If your country is not listed above, you need to apply for the visa at an Egyptian embassy or consulate in your country either in person or by post.

Your passport must have at least six months of validity and one blank page. Other documents required for visa application vary depending on the applicant’s nationality. Please consult an Egyptian consulate in your country for more details.

Most Egyptians can speak or understand at least some English words or phrases but Fewer Egyptians can speak Spanish, French, Italian, German and more. professionals, who work in the tourism sector, are accustomed to visitors who cannot speak Arabic and they will speak enough English and other languages to meet the needs of most travelers.

All visitors to Egypt are required to have both a passport and a visa unless you come from one of the visa exempt countries or territories, which include Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao, Malaysia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (as of May 2018). Citizens from some countries in the North Africa and the Middle East can also visit Egypt visa-free under certain conditions.

US dollar, pound sterling, and euro are accepted mainly in tourist areas and major cities.

All these three currencies can be exchanged easily into EGP at the official exchange rate at any Egyptian bank, bank desk in airports, foreign exchange counter in most upper hotels, and even at the same place where you buy your entry visa upon arrival in Egypt.

Of course, you can take a photo in most of the historical sites and museums in Egypt, but some of them have to pay extra charges for taking in a camera. historical sites, like the Valley of the Kings in Luxor and some in some museums, like the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities.

Thought a little inconvenient as it may be, visiting Egypt during Ramadan is truly a fantastic way to discover an important part of the Egyptian culture and enjoy the special atmosphere pervading throughout the country. Houses, mosques and some streets are specially illuminated with Fanous Ramadan (special Ramadan lanterns), creating a magical atmosphere and the culture, the prayer and the sharing of food, everything here makes it a very rewarding experience.

During Ramadan, the general pace of life in Egypt slows down compared to that in normal days. Shops, museums, and historical attractions officially close earlier before sunset. Some restaurants and cafés open only after sunset and may stop serving alcoholic beverages.

While almost all tourist hotels will be completely operational, including their restaurants and bars serving meals and alcoholic drinks as usual. Some hotels may hold "parties" at night with very friendly atmosphere and everyone is welcome, even though you are non-Muslim.

 The climate is hot from May to October and cool from October to May. In the Summer, it is dry and hot in most parts of the country, and humid in the Nile Delta and Mediterranean coastal areas. So that sun protection is the most essential consideration for this season. Pure cotton clothes and sunhats are essential.

You should seek medical advice from your local health practitioner before travelling to Egypt and ensure that you receive all of the appropriate vaccinations. As a guide Tetanus, Diphtheria, Typhoid, Hepatitis A and Rabies are strongly recommended.

Many of our holidays include an overnight sleeper train journey from Cairo - Luxor or Aswan and vice versa. The sleeper train is the highest class of rail travel available in Egypt, though by western standards it would be considered of a moderate standard. Cabins on board the sleeper train are equipped with two bunk beds and fresh linen is supplied. Dinner and breakfast are included within the fare.

There are also VIP train and sitting train but the quality is less than sleeper train and without dinner and breakfast.

Tap water in Egypt is actually safe to drink but as it is heavily chlorinated we do not recommend that you do as it causes stomach upsets. Bottled mineral water is available in hotels, shops and restaurants and inexpensive. Brushing your teeth and showering with tap water in Egypt poses no problem.

Most of the shops in Egypt open from around 10 AM and stay open until 10 PM; however, many shops, cafes, and restaurants especially in major cities stay open much later and some facilities and shops are open 24 hours.

Most of the sightseeing in Egypt open from 9 AM until 5 PM. Open-air historical sites, like the Pyramids of Giza, are open from 8 AM. But some museums have morning opening hours, from 9 AM to 4 PM evening opening hours, from 5 PM to 9 or 10 PM. During Ramadan, the holy month of the Islamic calendar, be aware that these hours will change significantly.

Tipping is serious business in Egypt. In a restaurant, it is good to give between 5 and 10% tip directly to the waiter. For a small favor, like carrying luggage or parking a car, a few Egyptian pounds would be appropriate. If you want to tip your tour guide and vehicle driver is totally optional but should be considered if you're provided with great service. If you decide to tip feel free to give what you think your experience was worth.

Try to skip the tank tops and wear a light t-shirt instead. It doesn't need to be long sleeved, just make sure your shoulders are covered and get a hijab or at least bring a scarf to cover your hair during holy mosques tours.

If you are interested in traveling to Egypt as a tourist, you will need a passport valid for at least six months after their arrival and a tourist visa. The tourist visa process depends upon your country of nationality and where you plan to enter Egypt.

  1. Apply for a passport well in advance of your trip.
  2. Consult your local government website for information on traveling to Egypt.
  3. Apply for a tourist visa through your local Egyptian consulate or embassy.
  4. Bring money for your visa application fee. tourist visa fees range from US $15-$30.
  5. Bring additional documentation, if needed. Such as copies of your round-trip tickets or itinerary, or a letter from your school or employer.
  6. Apply for pre-approval at the Egyptian Consulate, if necessary. Travelers from some countries must obtain pre-approval before obtaining an Egyptian tourist visa.

Yes, you will find checkpoints everywhere. They will communicate with the checkpoint at your destination to make sure you reach your destination safely and within a certain time period.The majority of Egyptians are very friendly, courteous and helpful to tourists.As for casual crime (muggings and robberies), is quite safe.it is still safe to walk at night as the big cities come alive and most, all the restaurants and cafes are open late.  It is safe to ride taxi's and especially airport and hotel taxi's go through high security checks.

This will be another amazing fact. Security guards/convoys are Not provided by any cruise line or other travel agencies, The security is provided only by the Government of Egypt on all tours. This can be in the form of a security officer accompanying the group, or a police car that precedes the truck. It depends on the willingness of the Egyptian police. Tourism is a major revenue to Egypt. Thus, the government always makes sure that passengers feel safe and well protected either cruise tours or any other agency.

Normally, reservations are made privately, which means that when you make the reservation, it is supposed to be a private tour and the vehicle and the guide will be provided only to your family/group, you will not put up with other travelers. Furthermore, if passengers indicate their desire to join fellow travelers in order to reduce the cost, we will fix it, if there is no other family/group you want to join with others.

Children (0-2 years) are 100% free for children (3 years - 11 years) pay 50% of the adult fare. Children over 12 are treated as adults. But if they are holding an international student ID, they are subject to a 10% discount on the adult rate.

To travel independently you must be at least 18 years of age. There are no upper age limits on our tours however travelers aged 70 years or older are required to complete a medical questionnaire. Our packages are open to families with children aged between 0 and 17 years of age. Children aged 12 years or older when accompanied by a parents or teachers

Most of our trips do not have a single traveler supplement. This means that the accommodation is on a twin share basis and, if you are travelling on your own, you should contact us first to check availability and the supplement.

Yes, in most cases we can arrange additional accommodation at our starting or ending hotels. Please contact us for price information. If we are unable to provide you with the extra nights we will give you the name of a hotel you can contact directly.

Starting and ending hotels are listed on your travel voucher. We use a variety of hotels en-route and so a complete list of hotels won’t be provided until 1 – 3 weeks before your tour, depend on the booked date. It’s extremely difficult if not impossible to join a tour after it has begun. It is possible to leave a tour early however you will be responsible for your own arrangements from the moment you decide to leave the tour. You would also be responsible for all costs associated with joining a tour late or leaving one early. Trip specific information on transportation can be found on the price included list however in most cases we use private cars, public transportation, sitting trains, sleeping trains, domestic flights.

We strongly recommend bringing a backpack or duffel bag, as suitcases can be cumbersome and difficult to store in buses, under seats, etc.. Keep in mind that you will normally have to carry your own luggage on and off buses and trains and up and down hotel staircases. Suitcases with wheels may not work well on dirt or cobblestone roads.

With one exception, we transport your luggage from the vehicles to your hotel, or cruise. Bellboys will move it from the lobby, to your room, for a small tip.

Is there a place to leave excess luggage we do not need for our trip?

Yes, there is a ‘left’ luggage department at the airport and it costs about $10 US per day, per suitcase. You can also leave luggage with your first hotel concierge and reclaim at the end. Of course, expect to tip them.

Luggage allowance when traveling to Egypt International flights generally allow 2 pieces of luggage each person, plus one carry on. Each bag should weigh no more than 50 lbs (23Kgs) each bag for check in luggage and about 22lbs for your carry on. Charter airlines restrict this further.

If you arrive, and depart, from Sharm El Sheik or Dahab, a 14 day Visa is issued, without charge, to visit Sharm El Sheik, Dahab, Taba, Nuweiba, and St.Catherine. If you wish to visit Cairo, you must obtain a full paid Visa.

We use a variety of hotels, the name of which will be provided after making your reservations. Just in case we cannot provide the hotel of your choice, we will carefully select another nearby, with the same category/rating. Most hotels that we use are near the pyramid area, and each has its own restaurant, some open 24 hours. Beside this, we can suggest other restaurants in that area.

Bank transfer is the easiest way to guarantee that your money is delivered to us safely and quickly. Credit cards and on-line payment are not common in Egypt. For safety reasons, we prefer that you contact your bank and send us your deposit by bank transfer, keeping your bank account data private, and we receive the amount easily.

During your tour we can suggest places to shop that are of high quality and recommended by the government. Here there are no forceful sale techniques used. In the most famous market, “souk”, Khan El-Khalili, you will be able to see the Egyptian handmade crafts, and try your hand at the bartering method of sales. However, if you prefer to purchase expensive things like papyrus, gold, silver, carpets, and perfumes, we strongly recommend that you purchase those items from reputable shops. It is very easy to buy fake items from “masters of the retail” trade.

We will help solve this problem for you by providing our clients with a free Local Egyptian Mobile phone, to be used during your stay with us. Being careful where you choose to eat, is highly recommended. Your hotel restaurant and those that your tour guide/Representative suggest, are the best options. Because of the dry/hot climate, consuming more water is necessary. Most visitors to Egypt prefer to purchase bottled water to use when they are away from the hotel. If you should become ill, we will be able to help by getting you local medicine we know is beneficial. In case of severe illness, we will bring a doctor, at your own expense.

No, but there may be limits on what you can take out of your own country. Unless you are investing using cash, this should not be an issue.

Yes you can, but it not recommended. Our accounts are Canadian therefore the card company will charge you the exchange rate, plus a fee, in addition to the 3.5% we charge. It is best to use Visa as we have a US Visa account and there are no additional fees over the 3.5%.

This will depend upon your tour itself. IF it is an escorted tour you will have one guide for the entire trip (this is done upon request for a private tour). If it’s a guided tour, it is very likely that you will have a different guide in each city.

Security is especially tight, and, all hotels have metal detectors, and Police, at the entrance. People are only allowed to come and go through one or two entrances. Media hype exaggerates what is happening. Egypt is safer than most cities in the USA.

Tour Operators are required to give your itinerary in, around and outside Cairo, to the authorities. In addition they have to provide a list of names, passport numbers and nationalities for all individuals and groups. This allows the police to secure the areas they visit, beforehand

This is not possible unless you have managed to negotiate a special permit with the department of Antiquities. These are not regularly permitted and you must have a special reason for doing so. We cannot assist with these.

There are no longer any fees for camera or video camera use. However, many sites will not allow you to take them in, and you may have to check them in at the entrance. If they do allow them they must be set to museum mode as they will not allow regular flash. This damages the artifacts. The rules do change regularly.
